چکیده

The dispersion relations and polarizations for the surface waves on infinite planar samples in QHE regime are explicitly determined in the small wavevector limit in which the dielectric tensor can be considered as local. The wavelength and frequency regions of applicability of the results extends up to the infrared region for typical experimental conditions. Then, standard samples with millimetric sizes seem to be able to support such excitations. Forced oscillations are also determined which should be generated in the 2DEG by external electromagnetic sources. They show an almost frequency independent wavevelength which decreases with the magnetic field. A qualitative model based in these solutions is also presented intending to describe a recently found new class of resonances appearing near the edge of a 2DEG in QHE regime. ∗Permanent Address: Grupo de F́ısica Teórica, Instituto de Cibernética, Matemática y F́ısica, Calle E, No. 309, Esq. a 15, Vedado, La Habana 4, Cuba

Forced oscillations of a damped‎ ‎Korteweg-de Vries equation on a periodic domain

‎In this paper‎, ‎we investigate a damped Korteweg-de‎ ‎Vries equation with forcing on a periodic domain‎ ‎$mathbb{T}=mathbb{R}/(2pimathbb{Z})$‎. ‎We can obtain that if the‎ ‎forcing is periodic with small amplitude‎, ‎then the solution becomes‎ ‎eventually time-periodic.

Traveling Waves of Some Symmetric Planar Flows of Non-Newtonian Fluids

We present some variants of Burgers-type equations for incompressible and isothermal planar flow of viscous non-Newtonian fluids based on the Cross, the Carreau and the power-law rheology models, and on a symmetry assumption on the flow. We numerically solve the associated traveling wave equations by using industrial data and in order to validate the models we prove existence and uniqueness of ...

An Experimental Investigation of Water Effects on Asphaltene Surface Behavior through Interfacial Tension Measurements

As a physiochemical property, asphaltenes are known to be one the most surface active compounds in crude oil. Due to such property, their behavior is most probably influenced by fluid-fluid interactions at the contact surface (interface). Potentially and naturally, in most cases, water is in contact with crude oil and is co-produced with it as well. Considering that asphaltene molecules are pol...

A Planar, Layered Ultra-wideband Metamaterial Absorber for Microwave Frequencies

In this paper, an ultra-wideband metamaterial absorber is designed and simulated. The proposed absorber is planar and low profile. It is made of a copper sheet coated with two dielectric layers. Each unit cell of the metamaterial structure is composed of multiple metallic split rings, which are patterned on the top and middle boundaries of the dielectrics. The designed absorber utilizes differe...
